“Why are ya mad for that disco shite?”

Situations Vacant is a new Irish comedy due for domestic release this summer. Though it was written pre-recession depression, writer Steven Murray must have been tipped off about the death of the Celtic Tiger before the rest of us. The film is scarily on track with Ireland’s economic situation. It follows 20-year old Dave Bracken as he searches for a full-time job in Dublin- not the easiest of tasks, as anyone who’s tried it in the last year will know.

The film is director Lisa Mulcahy’s cinematic debut, though she assistant directed Into The West and This Is My Father. Filmed in Dublin, Situations Vacant stars Irish actors Diarmuid Noyes, Shaun Dunne and Sam Corry.

Here’s the trailer. Watch out for Shaun dressed as Elvis. He’s only gorgeous.
